I had an older windows XP based version of this unit that ran pretty well until it fell apart. It had a really impressive 3Ghz Pentium dual core. But man the power supply was HUGE for this machine... and it tended to get very hot too. I do miss it, but since it couldn’t run Windows 7, I didn’t really have much use for it, especially since it doesn’t when the ability to use a graphics card.

That power supply is the same one that came with my Alienware 18 laptop. It is ridiculously big.

Fact: you can put 4GB of ram on the Dell OptiPlex 760 USFF.

E6500 is actually better. It is a newer release of the cpu. The core duo is early intel core series cpus. Dell used that cpu to keep the prices down. So that is why the person changed it out with a core 2 duo instead.

I have a 745 usff and made my own power supply using a old psu and cutting the larger pin and it fit i just looked up the pinout and put it together that pc was 10 dollars at a salvation army and it looked like it was stomped multiple times its a fun restoration though

thanks for this - with virtually no tech knowledge i have installed new internal hard drive and done the bios set-up - other than green text which has a load of data followed by result: success, please how do i now (re)install windows 10 as this was previously downloaded from m/soft (i.e. no cd-rom)? is there a way of downloading from my other desktop then putting it on a stick? any help much appreciated so i can get my stronger desktop back into use again - thanks for any help :)

I still havent done anything with my Optiplex GX745 but did pick up a boxed E7500 a while back for $10 just sucks that the fan in the box wont work on the BTX motherboard

I loved my usff 745 but 2 days ago it blew 3 caps and won't start up :(

You can use it as a tv pc.

Tip: Get AsyncWorldEdit so it doesn't crash the minecraft server when people do huge operations

My issue with OS install that I found was the CDROM install path. Used a bootable USB image and it went fine

I have this same 760. It has a post failure, where the screen messes up during the dell image boot and it just freezes. No beeps, no light indication, what do I do?
